Hi,

I want to become a Japanese tattoo artist. I cannot draw and have no experience at all. I only just started to learn and been drawing basic perspective boxes.

What I want to know is what are some things I should learn and practice drawing that will help develop the skills and achieve my goals? I am having trouble knowing what I should be practicing drawing?

Looking for some guidance and advice. Thanks.

Hi!
I would advise you to buy or lend some books for beginners.

You can also try to find some tutorials and guides on youtube.

Copying masters is a good place to start imo, you'll have a hard time in the beginning, but you'll learn more than trying to create your own designs.
Take some drawing from da vinci, raphael, or pick so crazy good tattoos, and try to understand how they were made.

Use office A4/A3 paper and a pencil, these are the best tools to start.

Try to draw circles, ellipsis, and to find simple geometric shapes in what you're copying.

Draw as much as you can, every day, and you'll progress quick.

Don't hesitate to post your works and ask questions or for critics here!

All the best,

Peace,

DKJ
