I have bunch of tattoos on myself that I did DIY.
two of my tattoos are done at professional shop.
the black ink in my professional done tattoo turned to bluish ink.
I know this is very common.
right now, I am trying to find out which brand of black ink that will turn to bluish black after healing.

I tried few brands myself and I am not too happy with how it heals.

the reason why I am asking because I wanted to do a tornado tattoo. the tornadoes are naturally bluish black and dark grey.

Thank you

Hi, I dont really have a answer for you as I use Dynamic black ink which stays black after its healed. I think you will find most decent brand lining ink will stay black or go a slight grey colour after a few years.
I would suggest Talons ink which was used by alot of artists back in the day. Talons is actually drawing ink and not designed for tattooing with however saying that alot of people have used it in the past and some artists still do.

I am only guessing as I have never used Talons ink but maybe this ink will turn blue as its a drawing ink and not a tattooing ink. But it is sold by tattoo suppliers.

I may be completely wrong here as its only a guess im sure someone will correct me if I am.

Maybe it was this extremely dark purpleish tone, that when used gives you the feel that it is black, also looks black in ink cap, but is actually very very dark purple. So when it heals you'd notice it better ? I saw that ink somewhere and just thought it would be cool to give off that effect with it

As far as black inks that lighten to a bluish color,I'd advise against using them. (they are probably really cheap and possibly chinese / which can be dangerous) Stick with a really good ink like Intenze, Kuro Sumi,Bloodline or Fusion. Learn how to mix your inks to get the desired effect you are looking for ie: cobalt blue with a touch of black may work for you. You might also find that companies with huge color selections might have exactly what you need. Check out Intenze they have a ridiculous amount of different colors. Just test stuff out though and do some experimenting, just dont use cheap ink,not only do they heal like shit, but are sometimes dangerous. Hope this was at least a little help.

Inks have changed so much over the years but what your looking for is Indian ink.
This will, after a period of time turn that deep blue'ish colour that your after...however, after that period of time Indian ink starts to blot or blur slightly, that's why you see old tattoos with crappy outlines that look like the were done with a 50 round liner lol.

I know it have been years since I posted the question.
Thank you to people who answered here.
I used talons ink and it worked out for me.
but I would like to use safe tattoo ink.
so I am doing the research again.

Thank you.
