Hi Guys,

Has anybody got any recomendations on mixing dynamic black ink for greywash,

I am experimenting in making some, and would like a good range of of greywash from light to dark ( in meduim ink cups, and also for 30ml ink bottles)

Thanks

My recent tattooist made his grey wash using dynamic black. He had 5 cups and put the following amounts of black and topped each up with water:

1st cup - 100% black
2nd cup - 50% black
3rd cup - 25% black
4th cup - 2 drops of black
5th cup - 1 drop of black

I’ve not tried this but seemed to work well for him. He knows I’m learning and recommend I try this instead of premixed grey wash that I use.

I've have come to find that its easier for me to use three caps. Of course that's just what works better for ME and ultimately your gonna have to find out what works for you. That said I break down like this,

1st cap- is full cap black.
2nd cap is about 7-8 drops
3rd cap- is about 2-3 drops
* fill the remainder with distilled water or a grey wash solution.
* the caps are the medium to large top hats so the 3rd cap is plenty light enough and for the stuff that needs to get lighter then that is better done with technique. Make sure you have your stretch down and machines on point. Practice practice practice;)
