Hi people!

I am currently practicing on pigskin using drawing inks but want to start trying with some actual tattooing ink (heard Eternal is a good one). Have an Eternal ink color wheel and can see the colors on websites of course but I actually have no idea how they look like in skin. I'm looking for 4 or 5 basic, not to dark or bright, colors to do American Traditional stuff but feel a bit lost due to the amount of color variations available.

Was thinking about;
golden yellow or sunflower
lipstick red
peacock blue
grass green
and some brownish color to do skin

Would these make sense?
What colors do you guys usually use?

Thanks!

all of those are pretty bright. I LOVE the golden yellow from eternal. Intenze hast he bowery set that is all traditional colors built around Stan Moskoweitz (sp). Bloodline has a traditional green..

if you are set on eternal I'll look up the Mike Chambers set...that's what he does.

Thanks for the tip. I'm not set on Eternal perse, just heard it's good. If the Intenze inks are fine I'd just as happily go with those :D

Tradional tattooing is done in mid range colours if following tradition truly. Dont go too bright. Like Mark says, Chambers does some great stuff so follow his colour sets if you can.
For practicing there are cheaper alternatives in the same shades, like new image inks etc, but try to avoid anything from the cheapo chinese on ebay type inks, there is some nasty stuff in some inks :confused::eek:
