Dark red is great, and it covers things up. Crimson red has a slightly mauve colour to it. I would imagine lipstick red is the brightest to be honest, but i have never used it.
If your red is healing pink, i would say it is setup or technique that is causing the fade or scarring.

I've started to switch all my colours (not that I use them much) to Electric Ink as the studio I'm in uses them.

These are by far the best I've tried and tested, and I've tried a shit load lol. Electric just seems to go in like butter and the richness and vibrancy of the tattoos done with it is unreal.

I would suggest you give this stuff a try, you'll never look back and you can thank me later hahaha ;)

I haven't mate as I really don't do a lot of colour and mainly stick to black and grey.

The pic below however was was done in 3 hours, I used my usual ink (scream 2 or Intenze) for the green and yellow which normally take a bit of patience with, the pink was supposed to be soft which I did 1 fast pass with the Electric Ink (super gentle) ...I kinda Fucked the tat as it went in too good lol...the client loved it though and wanted all the flowers done the same even though I wanted to add more detail haha
