Hi everyone!

Ive been tattooing for over a year now and would really like some advice or help with techniques on how to do script on the back of a hand (voltage setting, how deep I should go, what the skin is like there, how should the hand be placed, etc.) my roommate has agreed to let me do this tattoo on her and I just want to make sure it comes out well!

thanks so much!!

There's a fireside chat on youtube which could suit you.
Try "advice on tattoing the hands fireside", it should appear in the results.

Peace,

Always worth remembering that ‘volts’ can be completely misleading, unless you’re comparing the same machines.

The number that is important is the CPS (Cycles Per Second or Hz). Sure, the volts affects the CPS BUT you could have one machine set at 7v and another at 10v, both hitting a CPS of 150. Your comfortable hand speed will also impact on the CPS YOU require. 150 would be for a pretty fast lining hand speed.

I love tattooing hands, as you can ask the client to make a fist and you have a ‘near’ perfect stretch. I often hang the hand over a roll of kitchen roll wrapped in cling film. This allows you to plant your palm on your arm rest, otherwise your working over the knuckles.

As it’s your roommate, play around with the positioning, moving your machine around without power until you find what’s comfortable for you.
