What can I put on my pinky to help it slide on the skin?

A small problem I have when tattooing is my glove not gliding on the skin when doing the lining.
Is there anything I can apply on my glove or skin that will help?

Thank you

I would'nt go with this method (gliding over vaso, hustle butter...) because in the end it could get the whole place messy.
Stretching problems if the area is full of it, if your gloves are full of it, you can't grip the skin as well.
Losing your stencil due to too much liquid everywhere and the gloves rubbing it.
Ink deposit everywhere, unless you swipe/dab it well.

That's what i stopped doing, but if it's well controlled, i guess it works.

Mark (texasPT) openned my eyes once, saying that "you're not going to hurt your clients by stretching their skin".
The sliding is now easier to me, i just try to have less gloves to skin surface when i do a motion/moving stretch, and it works well.
If your client did moisture his/her skin daily for one week before the session, it makes a Huuuuuge difference (thanks Malin for the tip!).

Peace,

(That works very well when you're tattooing a family member in your own household. When it's someone you're not living with they DO NOT REMEMBER TO DO IT ??? ?)

do you not use vaseline when you tattoo?

there should be a thin coat of vaseline on the entire stencil so the ink can be wiped off. Just put some on your inky.

Also having the pinky be the base for your hand sounds unstable, I think using your middle finger that the machine tip is resting on is way better.

Soulstare,
Do you mean holding it this way?

Instead of this way?

Cause i always hold my machine like a pen, but just tried the first picture way and it felt sooo much better, like way more controlled!

Peace,

Let me tell you that i read you saying that once, and i told my 3 "not-the-wife" clients it would be a major difference.
They did it and i could really feel a difference, between this dry skin and that moisturized one.

You have to be persuasive, OKAY?!!!

Peace and lotionning,

second photo is way more stable imo, I like having the entire weight of the tube on my middle finger. Also a downside to this method is that it tends to smear the stencil more, but the stability is the best.

First photo looks funky, lol I would not do that. But sometimes there are weird angles where you have to hold it all weird and shit.
