Hi everyone I hope you can help. I'd like to know what I'm doing wrong, when shading with a Magnum needle (9m) I noticed that the strokes were showing the lines from each individual needle and not blending together, what did I do wrong?

If it helps I've recently changed from 10 years of coil machines to a rotary (Cheyenne)

Mine were doing this as well and a lot of it came down to me running my machine too fast (coils) and not having appropriate hand speed/brush motion. I havent used a Cheyenne but I did use a clone recently and found that I couldn't rely on sound as much either. Hope that helps.

It's all in the angle of your hand.
I can't tell you how your hand work but if you are getting straight lines instead of a fill or whip shade going, it's because of the angle of your hand / machine / needles to the surface of the skin.

There's other reasons but in my experience it's 90% because of the angle of the needle to surface of the skin or depth.

Also, adding this bit as well, if you havent tuned your Cheyenne it will definitely give you some struggles. Gotta set it to a softer hit.

Either that or the needles are a flat mag. [Which isn't a bad thing, I just wouldn't use them personally.]
