I have never had this problem before but yesterday it happened and I cannot figure out why. I was using a 9rl and after I loaded the tube with some ink, the same as I have always done, I would get a large bubble at the end of the tube. I couldn't line with it because the bubble was in the way. I added an extra rubberband, that didn't help, I took off a rubberband and that didn't help, I turned up the voltage and turned it down and nothing seemed to stop the bubble. I even changed tubes. Nothing! Bubble still there staring at me like it was saying, " so you think you are gonna get a smooth line in huh?"

I'm stumped. Any suggestions?

Too much ink. I dip my tube in ink. Pull it out. Tap machine on. Dip tap. Do that 2 or 3 times. Loads perfectly. I dip without machine running

Never had that problem before! I am not sure that was it because when I would wipe the bubble away, there wasn't any ink in the tube except maybe a few cm of a lines worth....

My buddy and I had a problem with that too, also forgot, maybe your needles were out a bit far? Just trying to throw out ideas. I'm too new to really tell you 100% why, just how we solved the issue. New brand of tube? Ink too thin?

Nope, same rigs I have been using for a while now. I have been using a rotary lately and I an struggling a bit on how to set the needle depth with one. but when I switched back to my coil it did the same thing.

No I don't think it's the ink cuz it's Alla Prima Black and some really good stuff. I think because I hung the needle out a bit much was the reason. I'm gonna play around with it and see.....

If anyone else has had this problem, please reply with some of the things you have done to fix the situation, or if you know for sure what causes this, let me know!!!!!

I use cartridges and I have this issue occasionally also but I can’t figure out why?!? I also haven’t really found a way to stop it either so any ideas to help would be great!

This has happened to me with my rotary! I just adjust the needle hang by bringing it as far in as possible, clean the tip with a paper towel (downward wipe so not to muck up your needle) and then rehang it and dip. Sometimes it takes just gently wiping downward to get rid of the bubble and no extra dip is necessary.

with cartridges it can happen really often, even high end carts like cheyennes arent super consistent. you always want to make sure the needle is riding the tip properly and that you are in the goldie lox zone for ink flow. even more important if you use a rotary. some cartridges like stigmas will alow you to pop off the tip and re-adjust the needle, others you can push in the plunger and adjust as well as you can, its just the price you pay for the ease of plug and play =(
