So I'm really into heavy blackwork and I've started blacking out my lower leg, I've been wanting it blacked out anyways and figured it would be good practice as well.

But I've been running into a few problems, I'm using a Peak Tanza rotary with a Piranha Compakt power supply, with 1211 curved magnums and Dynamic Triple Black ink.

I've seen videos on youtube of people color packing, 1 or 2 passes and it's SOLID black. Mine takes a bit, I'm not chewing up my skin it does gets there, it just takes a while.

Am I just needing a bigger size or is it because I'm using curved magnums? Do I use flats? Bugpins? Do I need a smaller diameter needle? I feel like I have the technique down it's just not getting solid nearly as quick as it seems it should. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
I would say that you should continue to do it your way, if it's working, why change?

If you can do it, your experience will lead you to a faster application of your technique and/or another, faster technique.

You got to keep it real > no one would post a video on the internets where he/she's NOT successful at doing something. It takes time, patience and practice to get to the point where you can have this kind of flow.

It's already a very good thing that you can pack black without hurting the skin, kudos!

Peace,

I think I've found out why. I do need a bigger mag BUT if you add a drop of distilled water to your ink cap it makes color packing so much easier
