Hi All!
so for starters I have had a search of the site already for some kind of advice on this. I have found some useful points already but I am bad at navigating to site to specifically find what im looking for.

A client has asked if I can tattoo over her self harm cuts on the inside of her arm. she has said that other tattoo studios have declined to do the work because of the scarring and to do with putting colour ink over scar tissue and they couldn't do it. however looking at her scars myself then are well healed and just appear as the white marks. no raised skin or anything. Judging from what other people have been writing im thinking it would be okay to go ahead with, its just the fact of other shops declining the job is making me abit wary of taking it on. apparently they have said it would take too much working over of fragile skin to get the colour pigment in? she wants block colouring over the scars within a design.
any advice is welcome.

(Sorry I have no pics of the scarring, shes keen to have them hidden)

MadameA23 here's an article that's helpful Can You Get A Tattoo Over A Scar - Inking Wounded Skin Tissue and has some good tips for setting your client's expectations correctly (for some of the things that can happen to the coloring of the tattoo). From their analysis keloid scars are the most difficult, but all scars heal differently and so have a different texture which means the ink doesn't always color as evenly. No doubt you're all over it, and a pro.

you won't know how the skin will react until you tattoo the skin. Everyone is different with scars.
