Hi I just started tattooing and I found this website I have a nighthawk tattoo kit and I was wondering how do I get a thicker line I have done a few on my self and found double lining works but not all the time what can I do I did some research and found that stretching the skin more can help get a thicker line I use a 3rl
also is it safe to reuse but clean the needles with antiseptic disinfectant and boiling water I have done two other tattoos on two other friends but with new needles and I have done 5 small pin and poke style tattoos on my self and what inks are best for use and cheap

Nothing cheap is ever good when it comes to ink
I'm not talking about cheap shit like the ink bundles that cost like £12 or like£30 I'm wanting something best for the price

Hey mate you can stretch as hard as you want but when you line with 3rl its not going to be Thick
I don't want a thi ck line I know to make a thicker line to you thicker needle but they come out really thin or thicker than before and I can't gather what I'm doing different I have been using Viking tribal ink Viking Ink Black Tribal 120ml (4oz)

Have you got any pics of the designs you’re doing? A 9rl will give a more solid line. I was told recently to line first with a 5rl then go back over and powerline with a 9rl. Tried it once and it works well.

As for reusing needles - sounds like a bad idea to me. I think you should either use disposables or proper sterilisation with autoclave etc. I’ve had a badly infected tattoo and it’s the worst pain I’ve ever felt ? not to mention...I could have lost my arm.

For inks, if you’re just doing black work then dynamic black is popular. You can get a fairly large bottle. It’s not that expensive and lasts a long time.

If you’re doing black and grey I can also recommend silverback Black Th1rt3en grey wash set.

I haven’t used colour yet so can’t really advise.

You got infected because you used a dirty needle or because of something else? got me curious cause i've never seen it happen.

My friend done it for me many years ago when he was learning. I don’t remember exactly but he bought some gear to my house, and worked on the tattoo over an 8 hour day (with several breaks). He overworked the skin pretty bad and it bled a lot! I don’t remember him wearing gloves, did clean or wrap the surface we were working on, and he didn’t use new needles. I guess the infection had several opportunities to get into the wound.

This is definitely not a safe way to clean needles for reuse. You're not sterilising them, you are at the most disinfecting them (and maybe not even that, depending on how you handle them and store them after cleaning), which means a (much) higher percentage of bacterias survives your cleaning.

For anything that is penetrating the skin, sterilising is required for reuse. And the ONLY way to do that is by using an autoclave. And even then it's very strict procedures for achieving sterility.

MUCH BETTER AND SAFER TO USE DISPOSABLE NEEDLES - AND THROW THEM AWAY AFTER EACH USE!!!

Yeah, it will cost you a little more, but then again, what would it cost you to get an infected client? Not to mention the client's well being.

Use everything you can disposable!!! And throw it all away after use!!! This is what we all do.

Yeah very luck. Spent 2 days in hospital on a drip and had to go back every day for a week for a top up.

I’m currently reworking the tattoo but a small section at a time as the scar tissue gets sore and swollen quickly. I’ll post pics once it’s done ?

I don't know about "reusing" needles? Here in the States it's against regulations to "reuse" a needle. They are meant for single use only then must be tossed in the sharps container...
