been looking into buying some needles as I have just been buying sets of 5 or 10 on eBay without knowing much about them and they all seem to look different even tho there for example 5rl. I I went to buy a box of 50 and actually research what to get and came across bug pins, double 0s, short/long tapier, loads..... Didn't have a clue what difference it made, so I found this. Good info.... http://www.taptatdaddio.com/The Tattoo Needle Primer.pdf

Yeah that's what I'm looking at but I'd rather get a box of 50 so I was just doing to research on the different types so I didn't get a big box then decide on a different type.

That a good peice on needle types (all covered in one) I learned from various books, info on the net & the fine folks on this forum. Then I learned what each type does (in practical sense) by buying a monster cluster pack of needles from a supplier who had batches of expired needles.

The pros : it costs hardly anything & you get a large amount of needles covering a multitude of needle configs. This allows you to try out something new every session! Discover your favorite needle types for yourself

The cons : you can only use them for practice (of course) they often sell packs 'as is', so it's sometimes the luck of the draw what you get (eg large bundles of unpopular configurations)

Not sure how legal it is to sell expired needles though - I'm sure there's nutters out there that would look at them and think "hey they look alright to me" I'd hate to think

Does it really make that much of a difference? Or #8-10-12 it says ther 0.05 of a millimetre difference like really can you tell the difference? And long and short tapier?
