I usually use poweline 7,9 tight liners, Ive been getting more bits from the tattoo shop lately and have seen they have leads of different liners available? Long taper medium taper straight bugpin round bugpin tapered liners tapered bugpin liners? The magic moon needles are 5X the price of the other needles (which is still nothing really).
Whats the difference? Will the bugpin liners needs a smaller tube like the mags? Whats better or worse about long tapers? I always found piweline needles fine but they have no stock of tubes I want and I like the ultra disposable tubes with clear tip and dont want to pay six quid postage just for needles. I am starting to do finer linework as well and want to try some 3/5 rl I did a tarantula last week and was impressed with its hairy legs I achieved with a 3 but I like traditional and want nice thick lines mostly.
These questions are what makes this site so great for us non fortunate wannabes who care about the work they do and the quality of the supplys and proves we dont all baby Sterlizer our one needle and use it for every wonky butterfly!

PM me if you would like to add me on FB by the way I know a few of you but am open to new tat chums.

To answer your question about the bugpins - they are used for portrait/black and gray work as they are smaller diameter needles and can provide a smoother gradient/blend. I have 15mag bugpins and they use a 13flat tube. Generally you can use two sizes smaller on the tubes when using bugpins based on the overall smaller diameter of the grouping. In terms of tapers ^^ just as was said above, everyone has different taste so you will have to try them out. Myself, I have only used standard tapers and bugpins.
