I hear everyone talk about pigskin being the best to learn on, but I can not find and for sale near where I live and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I have tried all the local butcher shops, slaughterhouses, and grocery stores. Any help would be appreciated. I live in TN in the USA. Thanks in advance.

It is not in all the stores in the U.S. But u should be able to find them in Hispanic grocery stores or at small local butcher shops. Hope this helps. If the Hispanic store has something called chicharron that is basically fried pig skin, and they will sell u some if u catch them before they fry it up.

Thanks for the advice but none of the butchers sell it. I am not sure if the FDA has regulations against it in America. For all I know they might. But me being the redneck I am I just bought a hog slaughtered it and butchered it myself and kept the skin as well. So I got the skin and my family eats good for awhile.

Why don't you tattoo it before the slaughter then it won't dry out :icon_cheesygrin:

I have a butchershop down the road from me (Indianapolis Indiana) who is ordering me some. They have to call ahead so the processing plant will save it for them. Try calling Smithfields In North Carolina and see if they will ship you some.. That was going to be my next step until I found the local shop.
