First one was the Wrath Vortex from Tatsoul. (free sample on this one...about $1.25 each or so) F'n hated it. When they say the vortex design really pulls ink into the tube they are not kidding. I had ink 70% up the needle when I broke down and it was a huge pain in the ass cleaning for the next color. I found the clear plasitic distracting, becuase it fills with the ink and you just see ink. It's not like you have a window to the needle for better vision. The grip itself was cool...hard like metal so it felt very secure.

Next I tried the Talon tubes from Jokertattoo supply. ($2.00 each) These are a solid plastic with stainless tips. LOVED it. I will switch exclusively to these now, I'm sure. Perfect grip, very hard but comfortable in your hand. And I just like the steel tips. Easier to see everything compared to the black.

Mark,
Very good to know. Thanks. I have a related question about the disposables. I'm seeing on some of the black disposable tube/grip/tips that the larger mag sizes especially are split on one side. At least they are in the photos. Why do they split them? Were the Wrath or Talon split?

large mags are split because you can't fit large mags through a tube, it just won't fit.

And the Talon's tubes...I had 2 come loose while tattooing pushing the tips up into the tube and exposing more needles. that and Joker screwed up my order and refused to fix it...so I'm not using either anymore. I've got some from International tattoo supply now that I really like.

Thanks Mark. When I'm ready I think I'll just go to Tatsoul. You get what you pay for but when the shipping is $80 for $65 worth of needles you gotta think about it. (When you're poor, like I am).

I really like the Super Tubes. I like the clear. Doesn't really help with anything, but when I rinse out, I can tell it's clean up in there. I use the ones with 1" rubber grip. They are about .90 each.

The tubes from needlesupply (http://www.needlesupply.com/) are what i use - black plastic and you can get either 3/4 or 1" rubber grips. Fairly priced (.60 each) and I haven't had an issue yet. You can slide the grip up or down to accomodate. I also use the tubes from needlejig and they are about the same quality.

Joker is bad, they sold me two bottles of ink with expiration dates that expired in 6 months. Also they sold me 100 sheets of fake stencil paper. When I got the real sheets from unimax supply it was a huge difference. Customer service also refused to make it right.

Dunno if I've mentioned this, But I buy disp. stems and use my own grips on em. (I do autoclave those of course) I used to try using all sorts of tube/grip combos, but it is just a big head ache for me to have bags of several different sizes, and always ordering different amounts of needles and tube/grips. I tried the needle/tube/grip combos as well, but they too take up alotta space, and just dont have the right weight for me. I think the heavy coil machines that I use really need a big metal grip to balance em out.
And as an added bonus the stems come in packs of 50 and so do boxes of needles, so no problem keeping supply organized, and they store in a very compact space. And of course they are a very affordable way to stock your supply. :icon_biggrin:

I usually buy em from unimaxsupply.com I get diamond tips for liners, rounds for shaders, and flats for mags/flats.
They run about $15-20 for a box of 50 (all one type). And the box is about 1/2 the size of a small paperback book. :icon_mrgreen:
