Hi mate yes alot of people on here swear by detol to apply there stencil with good results, i use the supa stencil what supertatz sells, theres a link to his page at the top of the forum. Only used it on fake skin so far but it lasted well & was still on it after 3 hours.

Stencil stuff is great! you use very little of it and stays really good after drying, and the bottle lasts forever

Hi gag what ever you pick to use have a look at your pre stencil prep and make sure you remove oils from the surface of the skin with what ever is suitable for that skin type w.hazel....injecter wipes ....s.alchol...this should help to prolong the stensil life

This is a very important process that many people do not think is important but it is. I personally use stencil stay (Blue in a clear bottle) after removing the oils from the skin and i never and mean like never loose a stencil during a tattoo no matter how big or how small

Ive been really fond of Stencil stuff and stencil magic lately.

Stencil stuff if you let it dry out and sink into the skin is like godlike. lol.

I Also Like Stencil Stuff. It Works Awsome & I Found That Its A Pain To Get The Stencil Off Even If You Wanted It To Come Off. I Did A Test Of The Stencil Stuff First. Let It Dry For Like 10 Minutes, After I Applied The Stencil. I Found That The Stencil Didnt Come Off That Easily.

Dettol Can probably clean car parts, even diluted that stuff is super strong, for real the smell was getting me sick. For a good stencil one you want to make sure you have the good stencil products. http://www.unimaxshop.com/

1. Sprit Master Paper (By Hand) The problem with Sprit is even some good suppliers sell boxes of fake Sprit and they don't even know it. The real paper works amazing. I order the on that says by hand 8.5x11

2. Stencil Stuff Or Stencil Green, Stencil stuff works great but I am hearing Stencil green makes stencil stuff look like a joke. I can vouch for stencil stuff, I have not used stencil green yet.

Here is how you put on a strong ass stencil

A) Wipe down the area with green soap

B) Shave the area well (Even if there is no hair) Gets rid of the oil etc..

C) distilled water wipe

D) Green soap wipe

NOW put your stencil stuff on, it goes on wet

NOW WAIT, and wait some more. You know how it goes on wet? Well when you put your stencil on you want it a bit moist but mostly STICKY.

E) Sticky is the key

F) Apply your stencil (dont rush, smooth it out etc..

G) Let it sit a minute minimum, but more like 130 seconds

H) Pull off slowly

I) Wipe the excess off around the design with distilled water or green soap, BE ULTRA Careful not to wip the design yet you will smear the shit out of it if you do.

J) Setup your machines Go slowly you need to kill some time. 15-30min
(TO SPEED UP THAT PROCESS A HAIR DRYER ON COOL NOT HOT SETTING WOULD.)

Right after step J you should be money it's only time now from there.

The more time you give it to dry the better it will be.

After it drys DO NOT WIPE YET, just Pat it down gently, little lube,

NOW TATTOO, that shouldnt move even if you started in the middle of the design.

The loger you let it dry the more solid it is. That stuff is like glue.

Maybe im just old school, but (I'm not trying to be a smart-ass) if done properly green soap works. I do have a ton of different stencil fluids including Dettol, stencil stuff, stencil magic the list goes on, but imo its all the same. I still find myself using green soap more often then anything else.

Green soap works good, but I guess it depends on the type of design, if your doing the new realistic rotary stuff and no lining you need something that will stay longer and that can take more wipes.

Alright group I'm going to let my secret out of the bag. I've used it all BUT this stuff is cheap as hell and most of you all already have in your house.... Its hand sanitizer... put a small coat on (like you would with everything else) It has alcohol in it so it cleans all the oil off the skin prior to the stencil.. AND YOU STENCIL will stay.... I've been using it for years....

to the OP: I'm curious how long you let the green soap dry?

When I see people apply stencils i.e. youtube or tv they always seem to be so wet they are sucked to the skin and then they brush them out a bit and leave then peel off....

I find sometimes when i'm putting on a stencil it'll go on but then the lines will like spread out etc.

How do they apply it wet like you see?

depends what they're using probably. I used to wet down the stencil once it was on when I used green soap - but I got some stencil stuff recently and now I can outline and breathe at the same time. Second best tenner I ever spent, second only to the subs for this forum :) Liking the sound of hand sanitizer though - gonna try that :icon_razz:

Your stencil will blur if the surface is too wet :icon_cheesygrin: I had the same problem so i just used less stencil stuff and it solved the problem of bluring

I have developed my own stencil transfer solution....i really think its far better than stencil stuff or any other commercial product that i have tried...

I used dettol for 6mths....and that was 6mths of hell!....not knowing if my stencil would fade or wipe off was severely limiting for my confidence and expectations of myself....

Now i dont worry about the stencil fading...am still learning after only a yr of tattooing of course, but i no longer have to worry about my stencils fading!

I would give the ingredients and recipe for my stencil transfer solution that i have developed, but am seriously considering producing and selling it on ebay.........i know its that good!...am just working out the pros and cons and profit margins along with consistency and reliable supply chains for the raw ingredients etc....so forgive me if i skip the most important part!

As for now i will share a few important points....and this is how i apply all my stencils.....

First and foremost..DO NOT EVER WET THE SKIN!....that includes water, greensoap solutions or any other useless water based product!....

First....if applicable...shave any areas to be tattooed, without the use of water or soap...that means dry shaving!.........sounds painful but its not that bad if you use new razors!.......Second....I ALWAYS use Isopropyl Alcohol to both clean and degrease the skin......do this using paper towels/kitchen paper etc.....the skin should look very dry and may even turn a whitish dry looking colour..that's good! that indicates the skin is free of grease/moisture etc

Its important not to use water because we want to get the hectograph transfer ink to transfer through the upper layers of the epidermis and into the deeper layers to become as permanent as we can!.......using any water based products or water itself on the skin only means IT is absorbed instead and will then hinder the absorption of anything else!

After the cleansing and skin preparation...THEN apply your chosen stencil transfer solution.....

Leave the stencil solution/dettol etc..to almost completely dry!..this will reduce problems of the stencil spreading and blending into itself when too much solution is used or it is still too wet.....wait until its almost dry!..use your gloves and when the skin feels almost dry its ready!

Apply the stencil and apply steady pressure for about 10-20 secs evenly as possible...then peel off slowly....

After that...leave the stencil to dry completely for at least 10 mins.........then after 10 mins test a small area with your finger (in a glove of course!)...if it stays put without the slightest sign of a smear...its ready!
