Hi Wes,

can you give us more info about your setup, ink included, placement, how you're trying to do it (needle hang, volts...), and some links to pictures, i think then we'll have more material to help you.

Peace,

Using Viking ink black dynamite

this doesn't help.

what size needle?
what part of the body?
what machine?
what voltage on said machine?
angle of entry? Are you 90 degrees? 45 degrees? 68.2 degrees?

and finally...post some pictures.

What you're doing now is saying "my car won't start...I use unleaded gas"

:)

1,5 -2 mm of depth seems... very deep to me, for any kind of needle and body part. But maybe I'm wrong ? Did you tried to tattoo more shallow and see what it looks likes when it's healed ?

Same here, from 3RL at 1mm to 7RL at 1,5mm never gone deeper without getting blowouts.

What worked for me is to have the double ammount of needle hanging out (3mm hang for 1,5mm needed).
It put me under the pressure of being slow and delicate not to go too deep.
But maybe you could take the safe way of 2mm needle hang to do the same exercice and diminish the possibility of getting blowouts (tube blocking the needle at 2mm).

And from my experience, some places are prone to blowouts, you just have to go shallow, double pass your lines if needed, take your time and built lines slowly.
It should end very well!
