Hi guys , hope your all good .

I did this Tatto yesterday .
found it very hard working on that Part the body .
Some lines went in good and others not so good .
Very few one pass lines .
Just above the colar bone it would get red very quickly .
Out of my comfort zone .
I’m kinda happy with it but also frustrated as I practiced it on fake skin and when coming to realskin it is soooooo much different.

I used a 3, 5, (3.0) rl a 9 (3.5) rl and a small curved bugpin mag .

the area would go red and like very small veins would come up , so I’d have to keep moving areas to let it get less red .
By far the most tricky Tatto I have done .
Feel I could have done it better but did my best of that makes sense.
Any feedback would be great .

thanks

Nice work, definitely way more good things than bad, I like it.

You seem to have a good understanding of your shading logic and looks you’re controlling the machine well in terms of line position accuracy. Possibly some improivement on needle depth for better consistency in line weight, but tbh that’s probably nit picking.

Did you power line the perimeter of the tattoo? Those lines seem heavier and more consistent.

You’re definitely on the right path and if your objective is to tattoo full time and earn a proper living from it, I’d back you to get there.

Hey whippet :)

thank you for your reply :)

Yea I liked doing the shading on this one , using the small mag . I like the fluid more loose aspects of the mag .

yea your totally right it’s the depth that I’m finding hard to keep consistent.

Was really hard on some parts just above collarbone, even with good stretch the ink didn’t like going in .

my 3rl and 5 rl where both bug pin long taper .
I did the outer line with a 35 , 9 rl mt so that’s why it’s nice and solid I think .

Maybey I’m future for tattoos like this I should get the 5 rl in a 35 ?

Thank you so much for your kind word and encouragement:)
Really boosted me :)
Was feeling a little bit deflated with my tattoos , like not being able to pull , push nice solid 1 pass lines .
I know that will come with practice .

I’d love to turn this into a career , I find it really rewarding when the client is really happy with what I have done and really enjoy doing it apart from the intense anxiety and fear that I might mess up :)
But I’m shore that will ease with time .

thank you :)

Here is the practice one I did on fake skin and another one the guy wants next :)

TBH I’d be going in with a 12 gauge 7RL or 9RL for a piece this size (maybe even a Ghost power liner 7PL). For delicate parts you can slow down and work off th every tips of the needles, you’ll be surprised at how delicate a line you get when you need to.

Using smaller configurations and bug pins at that, you may be making life more difficult for yourself with the added risks of blowouts and incisions (cuts).

BTW what machine are you using?

Hey whippet :)

yea the 9rl was a 12 gauge . Maybey I should get some 7 and 5 rl 12 gauge , or Maybey just 7 , all these needles add up £.
But I did like the using the 12 gauge , ink went in a lot easier .

Also the 9rl 12 gauge I was using was medium taper .

I take it with the long taper it’s easier to get an un consistent line width as more room for up and down difference .

Still got the CNC Q2 , got my eyes on a bishops want packer . Hopefully get one on eBay as can’t afford a new one at the mo.

thanks for you input :)

You’re spot on with that, this is why quite a few tattooers only user large groups or even round shaders. The greater surface areas makes depth control much easier due to the added resistance of the skin. You hit your depth and they seem to float in the skin…while small groups are bobbing up and down and the skin never really grips them.

If money is short I would suggest getting Ghost Hex 7Power Liners as a really good all rounder. You’ll notice the line consistency first go…I promise. BTW I hope some of your clients are chipping in with money, as you’re putting on decent work.

Bishop Wand Packer: I was lucky enough to grab the new Bishop power wand packer with the critical battery. F***ING GAME CHANGER!!!!

I’ll call it already…BEST MACHINE I’ve ever had in my hands. It was a hefty investment for sure but I’m over the moon with it.

I lined with coils for many many years and I’d never really found a rotary (not a cart machine anyway) that gave the same force and ease of ink application. Rotary works with 4.2 strokes were hard hitting but both my ID liners overheat when I put carts in. The Bishop nails the ink in with minimal hand force, if any. I tattooed an older lady with ‘generous’ arms lets say, on the back of her arm from her elbow to shoulder. I lined all of it first pass with super solid lines.

One negative note on the Power Wand. I bought it with the RCA adapter and intended to use my (cheapie) Mast batteries. They simply wouldn’t push the motor and so I started using the machine on a cabled set up….the critical battery arrived today and works amazingly.

Hey whippet , thanks for your reply :)

yea makes sence about the long taper and bug pin being a bit more tricky to pull consistent width lines .
I found the 12 gauge 9 rl mt so much easier .

I have a 12 gauge 9 rl mt , so I might get 12 gauge 3rl mt and 5 rl mt .
I’ll have a look into them ghost hex power liners :)
I have found a shop that sells kwadron carts in sets of 5 so I might go with them , I think kwadron needles are amazing , no wobble . Unlike Cheyenne craft carts that wobble all over the place .
I have been given a little bit of pay for two of the tattoos I have done .
so that covers a few boxes of carts :)

I was hoping to get the bishop wand packer second hand on eBay but might just buy it 😬
Sound like a good investment and you rate it aswell .
I have a great little Amazon battery that I use in the CNC q2 , I hope that will work on the packer 😬

thanks for you help and advice .
Also thank you for saying that I should be getting a bit of money for the tattoos I’m doing , really encouraging:)

hope your good
