Hey guys. Just got a tattoo inspired by Daenerys Targaryen from A Song of Ice and Fire. Done by Hugo Heineck from Jacรณ Studio, Campo Grande/MS - Brazil. What do you think? Does it need more black? More shading? Or is it good as it is? Thank you!

It is BEAUTIFUL work!!!

Are you the same guy who had a tattoo done about a year ago on your arm that you wasn't happy with? Something with Hercules holding up the globe. I'm a little puzzled why you have this eagerness to modify the tattoos, or at least think of doing it. It's a bit of a lack of respect of the tattoo artist to me.

If you got crappy tattoos I would understand it, but the ones you have shown have been exquisite. Relax and try to be happy instead of looking for faults ๐Ÿ™‚

I love it too, but I get your point, there's a lot of open space inside and outside the main outlines.

The bodies of the dragons/character could be darker, imagine coming off black edges up to a white highlight at the front OR, and probably a better solution, a darker background so that the contrast is heightened. And that is the 'issue' here (if we're nit picking), the contrast is minimal between FG and BG, particularly around the dragons.

I don't want to oppose to Whippet - l would just like to add that of course you can add all those factors to the tattoo. That doesn't mean it doesn't look good the way it is now. Imo it's very much a matter of the taste of the beholder, and you will probably get as many different suggestions how to alter it, as you will get answers ๐Ÿ™‚

Now I promise to keep quiet! ๐Ÿ˜…

I agree with you all. It's just a matter of personal taste. I raised this discussion because I love black work but I also love how the tattoo looks right now ;). The issue I see by going darker here is that maybe it will obfuscate all the little details of the image. By the way, the artist said it could be a good idea to add a background scenery to it, much like the one on this picture. No rectangle though, only a few cliffs and clouds with a very light color. What do you think? I said I would wait until the tattoo healed before I got more work on it and see how it would look with my arm hairs grown again.

It's a stippled tattoo, and it matches that style just how it is now. Adding more to it would probably ruin that stippled feeling.
