Procreate now works on the cheaper ipad as long as it supports apple pencil, i think there are other drawing programmes but not sure how good they are and if the stylus pens are as good and as accurate as the apple pencil.

Where are you tattooing now dale?

Lol never I'm not buying that apple crap ?
I’ve tried tons of apps on windows and android. Some of them are good but there’s just no comparison to drawing on an iPad using Apple Pencil and procreate.

If you’re sticking with Android try Autodesk Sketchbook, that’s really good!

The iPad also has a free app called vectornator which is great alternative to illustrator.

Not sure they suit you, but you can have a look. And you could Google for a GIMP version for android. Works as good as photoshop.

Gimp on Ubuntu works for me, as said just as good as Photoshop, and its free. What more can you ask for.

I'm on ipad and i use Autodesk Sketchbook almost exclusively. I really do love it. Of course i have access to Procreate, but have found no need to switch over. I recommend Sketchbook.

The best gadgets to utilize them with are tablets or convertibles. So go off the deep end with them and make marvelous designs or drawings, or simply use them for doodling as you endure exhausting on the web addresses. Right away, here are a few programs like Procreate.

I just bought my iPad, and in my search I saw quite a few for sale on craigslist/eBay/facebook marketplace that were pretty cheap, especially since the lower-end models can use the pencil now. Procreate on the iPad is an awesome experience. The lower-end models can’t handle as many layers, but you still should be able to have plenty for tattoo designs on any of the models

Hi Scott,

Would you have any good resources / tutorials using sketchbook. I've found YouTube doesn't have quite many and wondered if you knew of any good links please?

I've started using Sketchbook and really quite like it but i'd like to get to know how to use more of its features

I think this is the best, simple tutorial to create your own brush:

I guess you could easily create a 1 dot, a 3 dots and a 7 dots brush, just so you don't have to do drop your shadows dot by dot.

Peace,

DKJ

Still no comparison to procreate. I sold my Wacom tablet because the drawing software sucked. Sketchbook pro was ‘ok’ but still lagging behind IMO
