This was the little sheet that came with my cheap coil kit so not the greatest quality but did allow me to mess around without filling up my other leg. Vasciline seemed to have taken access ink off well enough but its still a little stained. Somehow managed to put the stencil on well enough that NOTHING seems to be taking it off ?. Also lost track of the reference so just winged it for shading. Its killing me not going back in and highlighting a bunch of stuff like I would an airbrush painting. Lining with a 3RL was ok but when I tried with the round shader it split the needle grouping up and created a weird pattern so I stuck with the 3RL. I cant seem to get it deeper black either ?‍♂️ anyways, I plan on getting a few more to do some work on in the future.

Be careful with these crappy skins. The effort it takes to make them look nice is counter productive to what it takes to make things look nice in skin. You teach yourself horrible habits trying to make fake skins nice. you will destroy real skin if you treat it the same way.

use it to see if you can line straight. that is all it's good for in my opinion.

I think im just going to buy some better quality ones and leave this one. When lining with the 3RL the skin was so tough it was putting weird resistance on the needle that isn't there with normal skin. Just have to wait till I get paid, the good skins aren't cheap. I can see the benefit of this with better skins though, especially when it comes to my linework.

Yeah that crap is the worst. I'm still using Reel Skin - but it's so much better to work with and at least takes a good line and can fill evenly. I'm using it to build consistency right now and not stressing details, but that cheap kit crap won't even do that much.

There is a Reel Skin vendor in the states. It's a touch cheaper than Pound of Flesh.

This is some Reel Skin that I was working on the last couple of days. My lining control sucks and I'm adjusting to working on an arm rest rather than a table, but you can see the difference in quality. Cheap ass coil liner w/ 7RLT and 7RS

The stuff on the lower half was from Spring. Just the TUVW are new.

these, in my opinion, are as good as reelskin. You have to work too hard to shade them, and triple pass to get a solid black line...but you'll see that your lines are good and you can actually see gradients.
I actually have one of those that someone gave me a long time ago. I'll have to pull it out and compare.

on script that size...try a 9rl. you'll get better smoother edges
Yeah, I got a bunch of stuff on order. I'm trying to spread my practice evenly and build up a steady hand with the small stuff too. I just had that stenciled out and ready from Spring :) and the biggest round grouping I have on hand is 7rs. My mentor actually "suggested" I practice with smaller groupings (5rl), but also believes in experimentation.

I love experimentation.

for me, the forgiveness of a 9rl breeds confidence. Confidence comes from the memory of success...so setting yourself up to be successful initially will help you feel confident when it becomes more challenging.

or something like that. :)

Exactly :)
Even though I've been away from the machines all year, I've been practicing my lining with Micron's. "Ok, I'm doing good with an 08......let's try an 02! Nope! Back to the 08"

Definitely going to check some of these out. My linework definitely needs all the help it can get and there is only so much realism I can hide behind lol
