As part of my personal challenge to draw a skull everyday for a year (advice from another artist) I did a quick skull study with a white pencil on black paper. I love doing work like this because ita so rewarding for a short drawing. Took about 40 minutes.

Very nice. Looks like white pen on black paper? Love that ?? I'm trying to figure out a way to tattoo drawings made that way ?

Its color pencil (closer to a grease pencil). I've seen white over black out tattoos that look pretty amazing but I don't think you could get very white highlights. Its closer to a tint but I could see it working for something like this.

Yeah, I'm more thinking of how to tattoo the black in the drawing, and leave what's white in the drawing as negative space. So to say. But it's tricky when the white is made of a lot of lines. So to say ?

That would look pretty interesting! Sort of like a mild trash polka?

Not exactly, the motif is still the black in their tattoos ?

I'm thinking if one tattooed only the black in for example this sketch

and left all the white as untattooed skin. First of all you would have to make the space broader where the white are single (or so) lines in solid black parts. And how would you be able to tattoo black and not make the motif look like a mess? ? And what would you do with the edges if you don't want the motif to be a square? ?

But I'm still trying to figure out solutions! ?

Thomas Kynst and Paul Acker do that.. I believe Paul has videos... they use the skin as the whites/lights & only tattoo with dark ink... so the “light” colors and highlights never fade... Kynst did a skull on an elbow that looks like you can reach in it’s mouth.

That's awesome!! ?? But not quite what I'm thinking of. He uses bigger areas of "white"/untattooed. It would work great with Beirdos skull, but not with a drawing where you want the white to look like lines on the black. (But only look like it, not be tattooed white on black).
