I struggle with design and pushing past the constraints of my reference material (I've always leaned towards realisim) and so I have been trying to take on some random designs and see where they go. I went onto r/drawmytattoo and came up with this. The request had a coffin and a skull on each side (the coffin was split down the middle with one side white, the other black and the skulls were opposite) and they wanted an hour glass with the same motif. Playing around with it I stumbled on this idea and ran with it- and Im really happy with the concept over all. Im learning Procreate as I go so this was a good chance to put to practice some of the tips I've picked up. This also counted in my 'draw a skull every day for a year' challenge I've given myself. Anyways, enjoy and as always, feedback appreciated.

nice design...you'd lose the white lines in the black skull. Finding a way to create more space there is always a great idea for tattoo longevity

When applying this to skin, would it be better to just leave those lines out and go full black? Or make those negative spaces larger?

I love the concept! The execution is pretty great too. There are a few small things I’d change,

1. The text. It seems like 2 different sizes and the bottom one is not correctly centered in the banner.
2. I’d clean up the corners and edges on the ridges of the hour glass.
3. i agree with Texaspt. I’m not sure how those white negative spaces will look put in and age. I don’t have a solution though...?

I would probably lose them, and the black ones on the white skull too just for symmetry sake.
