if it's to late, don't worry to much, you can still learn a great deal with this kit, and it got you here so it isn't all bad, i'v seen some good work done on worse machines but as you progress you will find you won't need talking into buying better machines, tattooing may not even be for you and so in that respect you haven't wasted a fortune, i started with a cheap kit from ebay but within six weeks i bought two mickey bee machines, i would buy some decent practice skin, not the cheap crap or buy pig skin and get your head down with practicing just your lining, ask questions as you go along and then move on to colour and shading but for now take it nice and easy and good luck for the future.

Thanks a lot toetoe, I'll just practice with that kit. Then Depending on my progress i will upgrade to a better setup. But believe me, I'm very persevering and I love art, especially tattooing. I'm ready to learn. :)

yes most people are on this site, you are in the right place, get ready for lots of ups and downs but don't get despondent, any questions even you think they are silly ones, just ask or have a look through the old posts, the best way is not to bombard the forum with twenty questions at a time but ask them as problems arise, take it nice and steady with very realistic goals and you will progress in a nice comfortable speed.

you'll find in 6 months time you probably won't use anything from this kit you'll most likely upgrade from everything the kit involves, sorry but they're a waste of money. I learnt the hard way :)

I really wanted to buy better quality equipment but i couldn't afford more... Puerto Rico is not that tropical paradise that north americans say it is. The truth is there's a lot of unemployment here.

And as far as the kit goes I don't think it matters what type you get all kits will come with cheap Chinese crap, but it has everything you need to practise and having the coils and rotaries will be good to see what you prefer.

I don't know about that there only 1/2 oz so look big in the picture but will be the size of a nail varnish bottle. That will go straight away then invest in some decent black.

Their will probably be a difference of opinion on ink brand, everyone to there own, i use eternal inks, they go in easy and if put in right they are nice and bright.

I like starbrite, it all works... just avoid chinese and fake inks (check trusted supplier lists, iv had fake starbrite) & iv heard it said multiple times - beginners often have a hard time with MOMS brand ink as they are thicker.

Finally, i got it. I have some questions.. First of all I noticed that the power supply looks very low quality. I tried running the 44. Magnum liner and it did work BUT i noticed that i have to turn the power up to 7.1 V aproximately for it to run nice. The .38 caliber shader worries me, first it worked more or less like the liner, then i lowered the voltage to 6volts and it didn't run, then i turned up the voltage to 7, 8, 9 volts and it stopped working. I wanted to know if its the power supply that is shitty and not sending the voltage it says or if the problem are the machines

After i tried those 2 I opened the rotaries and they work pretty well, some vibration but nothing mayor. I grabbed a grapefruit and did some lines to test them and they seem to run well.

I'm worried because I really want to use the coil machines. I don't wanna tattoo with rotaries because i want to start "traditional" (sorry for my fucked up english)

if you look at the image of the coils on the Hildbrandt site it reads "engages as low as 4.8v & runs as low as 6.5v" its also known power sources vary (as in your location) and all sorts of other variables.

check all your cables, make sure your rubber bands aren't so tight they prevent the running of the machine (unless you turn up the volts). The foot switches that come with alot of kits break very very easily, so keep an eye on your equipment and have fun, i'm sure you have enough there to keep practicing for some time.

Make sure you check all the gaps in your machines are right and tighten all the screws etc, also check the holes were the clip cord attached to the machine could be some crap in the holes, try getting your machine to run without being loaded and then go from there.try 1 rubber band when loaded

Unfortunately we all learn the hard way!

The sad fact about these websites is they target beginners with no experience! "6 machines, 2 PS, 50 mixed needles and 50 inks all for £40?? GREAT DEAL"

If you're genuinely serious about learning then save several hundred, you don't need nothing fancy, just 2 decent machines Micky Bees are great IMO and really cheap! and a bottle dynamic black, IMO this is the cheapest and best option, you can only be as good as the machines you're using shit machines you wont progress!

if you don't think tattooing is for you, sell them!

Happy tattooing!
