I got tattooed six days ago on my arm. I should also state that I have many many tattoos and my other arm almost full sleeve. I can’t believe how bad this new tattoo burned , seen a new artist. They poured straight dettol on my arm before stencil, my tattoo still feels burny today. Is this common? And do you think the burning could be from the dettol, I don’t think you are supposed to use straight dettol on skin.

dettol should be diluted at one tablespoon of dettol to a half pint of water or by mixing 20ml dettol with 400ml of water. Hopefully they did that!

Have you tried putting A&D ointment on it ? That stuff helps a lot. Maybe by putting a non diluted cleaning solution on your skin could have damage the skin superficially and then when he went to tattoo, it could push that stuff right into your skin so it might burn real bad like that. That’s my guess, but then again I am no doctor! Every time I do a tattoo on somebody I always use green soap. so I’ve heard a lot of horror stories about the stuff that he was used on your arm and that’s why I don’t use it. Sorry that happened. I hope you get it resolved soon.

I don't know if it would be the dettol that is causing the burning, mant tattooist's use undiluted Dettol to apply the stencil, wiping it over the area to be tattooed and waiting for it to become tacky and then placing the stencil.
What aftercare are you using, if any? Did they apply a dermal bandage over the finished tattoo? This sometimes causes a reaction, the dermal bandage should be removed after 24 hrs if one was applied. I would recommend doing what you have done with your previous tattoos with the aftercare.
Maybe go back to the tattooist and ask them if this has happened before with their clients. Don't be afraid to talk to your tattooist, they should welcome any feedback, whether good or bad as it helps them to further their career or help to rectify any mistakes or bad practices that they may not know they are doing.
