So I always scroll around on eBay. I came across a knock off Dan Kubin a while back from China. $150 I will pass.... A week ago I found a guy in Cali selling 2 of his knock off DK's. I offered him a lot less that what he was asking and he accepted. I ordered a RCA adapter for it because I do not use clip cords ever. I received it and I had to drill out one hole a little bigger to fit the RCA adapter screw and done. Man this little thing hits hard and it has give to it. I like this thing. I cant imagine how good the real DK's are.

Looks and sounds cool. Kubins aren't designed for carts. They work a lot better with loose needles. That give that your getting is from the cart. Nuto magnet carts work with them as they have zero resistance.
Kubins act a lot more like coils. I've put a couple of o rings on my armature bars after looking at your machine and it's dampened the noise down on them.

It works well with standard needles as well but also seem to have a little give but less. I not in the need for another packer so I liked the way it feels with the carts. I did a tattoo today and used it for B&G. I really liked it. The tattoo came out pretty good but I feel like some textures are missing and the top is a little rushed. What do y'all think?

3RL (not used much on this tattoo, 5RS, 11RS and 11CMG.

Which out of the two would be the best bet, the tattoo shop machine does look like a cheap Chinese machine to me, probably cost them £20 !

Jerry’s machine does look better engineered, at one time a Korean company were making identical copies of kubin machines, Dan was not happy, serves him right for charging extortionate prices for something probably worth half the amount.

Thing is, if he was not so greedy on his prices then it would not be worth anyone copying his ideas or designs, personally, although i would love one of his machines, i think a price tag of around £400 - £500 is more than enough for something he makes for probably little more than £100 allowing for a good motor. At the end of the day, it is a tattoo machine, nothing more.

The Korean machine looks every bit as good, so its down to motors, if the motor is the same then i know where my money would go.

Greed always begets greed, simple human nature.

Never forget Dan Kubins statement he put on his page “Due to the high demand, I had to raise the price on machines. My goal is to limit the second hand profit selling and make it easier for customers to get my machines through me” reads pure greed to me

A lot more than £500 Russ, with tax I think close on to £900, I am tempted to try one of the copies, got to weigh up if it’s worth a gamble or not.

Nearly a bag of sand for a machine is a joke Andy,I’d never pay it,think I’ll just stick with my coils mate

oh my god this forum. don't skimp on machines . there is literally not a single knock off that. comes close to an actual dan kubin. is it so bad overseas you guys are whining about what you should make in a day? because if you had one of these you would make more because you can do more efficiently. i can say that i have a v2 and a v3 and a v6 and i have used every cheapo crap 20-200 dollar knick off and there's no comparison. i can share videos if them running and explanations, but there's really really no need. spend the money. it's better than your coils because it's more consistent and doesn't have the give of one but also it can operate on settings that would allow for soft black and grey. some of these tattoos that "you had no problems with ". are near unnacceptable in the us as apprentice level work so i dunno what the selling point of those was. good on everyone who actually has a dan kubin and everyone else is just missing out on the entire industry's most respected lining machine , with thousands and thousands of users to back it up. 1000usd isn't a lot for a machine i have coils i've spent more on. pffft. i cannot verify the motor is or isn't those but i can say that you can't adjust any of the knockoffs , maybe some have a rear adjustment that doesn't work or does something i can't figure out. dan kubin are almost more adjustable than a coil right down to the tension on the motor in. the frame .
