Hello,

im curious what apprentices do in a tattoo studio day to day, especially here in Australia (Sydney).
I have a possible chance to become an apprentice which is super exciting, but I understand I won’t be tattooing right away.
What are the main tasks you do in the studio?
As a side question, how are your hours worked out? Is it by a roster, or do you choose yourself?

Sweeping, mopping, setting up and breaking down stations, running errands, attending the counter, and then if you're lucky, your mentor will sit you down when he/she is tattooing and show/tell you things.....if it's a bit quiet he/she would be expecting you to be drawing or tattooing practice skins.
You would usually work the same hours as your mentor or probably more as they would expect you to be there first in the morning to give the place a sweep and mop and be the last to leave after breaking down your mentors station and mopping before leaving
