Wish I could afford all 3, but I'm interested in the kylin.

If you don’t mind me asking what rotary and set up do you use for lining now that you’re getting rid of your coils?

I use a CNC pen for everything. I'm keeping a set of coils...I've got a spaulding shader, kylin's cnc milled liner (amazing!) and a next generation color packer/whip shader.

For me, it was a weight issue primarily. I was looking for something lighter than coils because carpel tunnel had my hands hurting for days after a tattoo. A buddy of mine tattoos with one, so I bought a cheap one to see if I liked it. I wasn't sold. Then I learned how to use it a little...and I was hooked. It is effortless to me. I still think a coil lines better, but shading, color packing, etc. is so much easier with the pen. So I adapted my style to work with the pen for lining. You HAVE to stretch...tight skin to line well. Not a lot of single pass lines. And being able to have 5 needle configurations for a tattoo and switching between them in seconds is nice...really like cartridges.

and I was "loyal to the coil" disbeliever in anything that didn't clackity clack for a long time. then I opened up my mind a bit and my tattooing has improved because of it. But I went through 3 different pens before I was hooked.

something like this would be a great way, very cheap, to see if you dig pens.

The more I deal with how long it takes to set up two or three or more machines before I start tattooing myself the more I’ve been thinking about the pro’s of cartridges and possibly giving it a try but I’m not in a hurry to switch or anything. I’m just trying to learn more about them. Standard needles and grips are cheap but the more I think about the costs the more I’m starting to think that they might be the same cost as cartridges in the end. What CNC machine are you using? I was curious so I looked around at the different models and people seem to really like them.

I've got this one. I think it was about 200 shipped...worth every penny. My buddy who had one was tattooing with it a couple years before he swapped to a different brand.

I actually watched a video with a guy showing off that model where he took it apart and it looked really solid and well made.

all about stretch...to line with the pen I have to pull skin as tight as possible. I love it now. hated it in the beginning.

wrap that grip big, it helps steady your hand and you'll pull some better lines than you currently are.
