Just curious as to your thoughts on us reintroducing the monthly drawing contests?
Would you like to see them return? If so, as digital art on tablets etc is becoming commonplace should digital art be allowed in entries?
There are no prizes, but as drawing and art is a major part of the tattooing process, its nice to push users to do that little bit of drawing on a regular basis.
If you have any ideas as to how this is run, i am all ears. We are always looking for ways to improve.
Your thoughts please

Yes, definitely allow digital painting. Can't turn back time. I would suggest you urge people not to outline a photo of ie a tiger on the tablet and then call it drawn by themselves though. You can of course never guarantee that won't happen though. Bottom line is anyhow - allow digital art ???

I'll be very pleased to see it coming back.
For anyone who seems to have outlined from a real picture, well... They should be able to show how their drawing evolved.

Peace,

Please place your votes on the poll so we can judge this.
Thanks

I know pros who cannot I repeat..CANNOT draw but still knock out great looking tattoos using digital art. I draw portraits in pencil myself and would love a monthly drawing contest. Put digital art in ....for those who think digital art its equally skilful just use a pencil instead.
Sawing a cow in half is also art apparently..but its not drawing.lol.

categories would be great....but the reality is there is usually 5-6 people who participate. Drawing outside of your comfort zone makes you better. Picking the category you know you'll excel in so you can win isn't fun for anyone. I don't want to go against mucknasty in portraits or realism...but I will. If I have the option to go draw a skull and dagger I"ll do that instead. (so don't give me the option)

This feature was brought back, but the software system wasn't much good.
The full site software we use is going through a major development and is due to be released by the developers in the next few months. We have heard a few changes they are implementing, but not all. It would be pointless for us to make a new system for contests if its not going to work when the new version of the base software is released. You could always arrange your own contests using the POLLS feature within threads. If you want to designate a contest manager/user, I will give permissions to the user account to manage/maintain certain contest threads and polls.

Having participated in various remixes/edits challenges on a forum, i'd say that an anonymous challenge helps to be more fair in the votes.
If someone doesn't wish to participate and posts links to the various entries, it is really another thing.
But people here are very critical and there are no clans like Chicago vs NYC.

I would hope we could put our biases aside but, we’re only human.

Maybe there could be a contest head that we send our entries to and they post them with a number. Then we pick which we like best — No voting for yourself.
