Hello all,
I'm new from the UK. I have decided to go full in with designing and learning the ropes in my own time!!

I was wondering a bit of advice. Has anyone from the UK used the course to help them rather than going the apprenticeship route?
If so how long has it taken and has it helped you 🙂

I’m positive that answers will vary on this question, sort of like how long is a piece of string. What I will add myself is that learning to tattoo competently (pro standard) will not happen overnight, and you will be talking about years rather than weeks or months before you attain a credible level on skin; certainly one that is consistent across all your work.

That’s not to put you off, there is immense pleasure in the process of learning, as well as down moments, often when dealing with work that is clearly not as you envisaged in your mind’s eye…this type of thing can be challenging but surmountable.

As for non-apprenticed tattooers, there are many including some world leaders, so don’t think not doing an apprentice means you can’t make it. Apprenticeships are completely unregulated and adhere to no agreed standards, so they can be brilliant…or terrible, a bit of a lottery. I’ve never done an apprenticeship but have worked in a shop with apprentices and its hard to see what they were getting (besides being exploited) that I didn't find myself elsewhere.
