Can't see well the Karma but Ben is solid, very nice work!
I shaded a mid gray, behind the Karma, and at this point I will wait and see how it heals. Can't see well the Karma but Ben is solid, very nice work!
What worked for me when tattoing the back is to get the client sitting, feet on the sofa, with knees on the chest. It gets you a little stretch and they can wait like this for a good moment without too much fatigue.
I feel it is much more of an hassle for both if the client is sitting straight, and the respiration movement is lessened.
That way, the back is quite round-curved, and i could get steady on my elbows (i'm a tall guy), and even have my forearms to rest on my client's back.
With this position, there's only a few lines where positionning yourself is difficult, but you mostly have all angles available.
Peace,

Hei guys,
I will be posting the work I am doing as an Apprentice, here in this thread.
This one is the second I did on human skin and I am looking forward to improve and get better at this.
I only used a stencil for the lines, and did the shading free hand.
Constructive criticism is appreciated.

Easy peezy brudda. The back area is a problematic one for me, as I never find a good position for my hands.
Thank you for the info!Easy peezy brudda.
Stand up when you do back tattoos and lower your tattoo bed. If you dont have that options, RIP your back but the best way is to stand up when doing back tattoos because you have a fulcrum for your shoulders now.
I stand up for back tattoos, shoulder tattoos, and throat tattoos.Thank you for the info!
I will try this at my next back Tattoo!![]()
I did a dolphin today on the chest and I also stood up for it. It felt way more comfortable, but then I realised that I need a workbench that can be lifted up to my level. It was a bit inconvenient to get the needle into the in cups at such a lower level.I stand up for back tattoos, shoulder tattoos, and throat tattoos.
Bet your lines were crispier though brudda. Sacrifice for benefit.I did a dolphin today on the chest and I also stood up for it. Why would you lower bed if you stand up, i don't get it?
If i stand up, i'm higher so i would get my bed higher instead of breaking my back, no?
What am i missing?
Peace,

I did the chest tattoo today, and it was really comfy, having the client all the way up on the bed, on a 45 angle, and I just did my thing, with no hunchback posture, or anything like that. Was quite comfy.I lower mine because of the angle. It makes it easier to keep your back straight.
It also depends on the tattoo like I said in another post though. If I'm doing script, I want the bed right up in my face but if I'm doing a larger piece I'd want to see the entire layout so I know how to map it out as I go.
I will be working on that! Thanks!Where you find this selfie of me xD
Good job bro.
Only advice I have is to punch those line weights a bit more to give it depth.
Hei,Good work…as usual.
Shame about the ‘before’ image for the cover up and it will be interesting to see how that one looks healed, especially under the red. I’ve done cover ups that looked good walking out the door, but on healing the dark elements came back through. I tend to build in some shading now to make sure nothing pokes through.
Keep in mind that you need a darker tone to cover any old/original ink, and that cool colours work better than warm in achieving an effective cover up. I know Minnie’s ribbon is red, but you may need a cooler red with a little more blue in it (not a purple) to be effective.
UPDATE: I just watched your video after posting and it looks like what you are covering is pretty light and small.
