great job!, make the most of being able to tattoo that solid black between the finger webs without someone screaming in agony.
Don't be too hard on yourself, you did well, you can use your 5rl to pack into the tight spots before you go to the Mag... Very nice mate!Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and joined premium only 2/3 weeks ago.
This is my 2nd tattoo i did on right calf. My first was the small one below this big piece. I actually did this last night. spent 5 hours on it.
I used 5RL for outline and then 7M1 for color packing. Struggled with getting ink into the small areas...kinda ruined it a little. Should have used a RS but didn't have any needles.

here's this weekend's practice. It's my third week attempting to learn how to tattoo and it feels like I have soooo far to go.

Thanks! I finally picked up an apprenticeship and hope to be working on some skin soonLooking awesome tho!
I like your use of color! I feel like it is blended quite nicely. My only critique is that your lines are a bit shaky, which is hard when tattooing yourself cause it hurts. I also see the lines getting a bit light in places on the outline. Perhaps it was intentional, but if not, just keep an eye on your needle depth. This is my latest self tattoo. Healed lighter than I was hoping. I'm going to darken it up a bit at some stage.
Yeah the light lines were intentional. Trying to give the translucent look of punamu (nz jade)I like your use of color! I feel like it is blended quite nicely. I really like this, Sarah. So simple, but so cool at the same time. Nice!Practicing a woodcut/etching style on myself.
I only started tattooing when the pandemic started so I'm making some good progress. Thanks for all the advice?

#6.jpg and the last picture are sick!Couple self inflicted cover ups and some color work. About to do some reworking on the ones on my arm so will certainly post when I do!
Haha yeah single needles really are only good for very fine shading! I started with using a 5rl and I found a 7rl and 9rl would be good for getting the ink in and thick lines! The first two were one of my firsts so they did take me 7 or so hours with lots of breaks.Niiiice omnilydia !!! I'm just starting hand poking. I've only done two on myself so far. And one on another person. What's your experience so far? Needles and such? I've tried single needle (useless), 3rl, 5rl and a 7cm. I bought some textured needles and they seem to be good for ink flow.
How long did no1 and no2 take? I'm about to do a mandala in a couple of weeks which I will have to make in several sessions ?
Thank you!#6.jpg and the last picture are sick!
lol .... in my defence i used a kitchen fork to do it long time ago....... hopei get around to finish / redo it one of these days... since than i nearly run out of space on legs but though i would come back to it when get much better one day (at least where i could reach)
i take it you are trying to make me feel better about it ... i should have tried on practice skin first before i did this...at least i learned my lesson there ... i though it would be like drawing on paper with a bit of pain perhapsWith a KITCHEN FORK??? Did you use a hammer to get it in? ? For being with a kitchen fork that looks ace. I think it looks pretty decent even if it would have been done with a traditional needle. You know there are needles? ?

... but thank you anyways lol
the bottom one was the very first time i tried tattooing ever and it was done all in one go with a very shitty cheap tattoo machine from amazon the following day i did the one above .... however i though the bottom wings were just too small and looking funny so i tried to cover them up with bigger ones a couple of weeks later and again I learned a few things lol ... tattoo take longer than 2 weeks to heal (i did think its just me being a <> or oversensitive on that day so pushed through anyways which wasn't the best idea) and that you should get some experience first before attempting a coverups so you don't end up like me .... it was a long time ago though i think i will try to redo them both next week as i have a couple of days free and talking about it gassed me up ... i will post a picture once healed and hopefully looking at least half decent...I definitely didn't try to make you feel better, I think it looks great. But of course I don't know what your reference looked like, and if you wanted fat, bold black lines toy didn't succeed very well ? Now they look very sketchy, and sensitive (you say that? ?) in an arty way. I love that.
But you must have been having more than one go at it? And with a machine? No way you did that shading with a kitchen fork! ??
